Dr Beale back to examine Jayalalithaa

Meanwhile, former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy visited the Apollo Hospitals on Sunday and enquired about Ms Jayalalithaa's health.

Chennai: The British medical expert Dr Richard Beale is back here to examine Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and will spend a few days to monitor the current pace of progress in her health and improvement. Dr Beale, who is making his fourth visit to Chennai in the past 22 days, examined Ms Jayalalithaa on Sunday along with AIIMS’ pulmonologist Dr G.C. Khilnani, who also flew in for the purpose. Sources said Dr Beale, the Consultant Intensivist Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust will be here for the next few days and monitor the current pace of progress in Ms Jayalalithaa’s health.

Ms Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo Hospitals on September 22 and is making “gradual progress”, according to the latest medical bulletin issued by the Apollo Hospitals on Friday. The bulletin had said Ms Jayalalithaa continues to be under treatment and observation for all “vital parameters, respiratory support and passive physiotherapy.”

Meanwhile, former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy visited the Apollo Hospitals on Sunday and enquired about Ms Jayalalithaa’s health. “We are getting positive reports from the hospital on the health of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. I met the doctors and they explained everything to me. According to them, she is progressing very well...she will recover in a very short time,” he said. Singapore official Joshua and Tamil actresses Latha were among several persons who visited the hospital on Sunday.
