JAMMU, Oct 23: The Golden Jubilee year general conference of Northern Zone Insurance Employees Association (NZIEA) was held at the winter capital city here with a colorful procession of about 500-employees of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) under the banner of NZIEA today.
The procession was led by leadership of the organization followed by women contingent moving with raising the slogans on their demands and also the contingent of the LIC employees gathered from seven States of Northern India.
During the procession, the participants were greeted by other mass organizations/ Trade Unions of Jammu region. This rally culminated at Abhinav Theater, Canal Road here.
After paying the tributes to the martyrs, the inauguration session started with full throated slogans by the participants.
The rally was inaugurated by CPI (M) MLA from Kulgam, M Y Tarigami, who is also State president of CITU. In his forceful speech, Tarigami lambasted the nefarious policies of the Central Government. On current and prevailing situation in Srinagar, he appealed the Government to treat the issue on humanity and resolve the issue through dialogues with all the stake holders and not by bullets.
Tarigami congratulated the LIC-employees for their contribution in the struggle of oppressed in the society and also in the struggles of working class.
The chairman of Reception Committee, SP Kesar welcomed the delegates, observers and other dignitary participating in the inaugural session.
The session was also addressed by Amanulla Khan- president All India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA); B. Sanyal and BS Ravi, joint secretary and treasurer of AIIEA, respectively.
AK Bhatnagar, general secretary NZIEA, also addressed the inaugural session. All of them analyzed the current political situation, the challenges before the people of the country and exhorted the audience to prepare themselves for the fierce struggles ahead.
The inaugural session was presided over by R C Sharma – president Northern Zone Insurance Employees Association.
The delegate session was held in the afternoon, wherein, the report of the general secretary (NZIEA) on the behalf of the working committee of association was placed before the House. Detailed discussion was held on the report and some decisions for the future course of action were taken there.
