Punjab: Congress general secretary likely to join SAD

Congress General Secretary Seth Satpal Mall is likely to join the SAD on Monday. This may affect the chances of incumbent MLA Sarwan Singh Phillaur of getting a ticket from Kartarpur assembly segment. Mall, according to sources, was promised a SAD ticket.

Mall is quite close to the Dera Sach Khand Ballan, which is one of the largest deras of Ravidasia Community in Doaba.

When contacted, Mall said that he will be joining the SAD Monday. When asked about Adampur (Reserve) constituency, where he was working for several months in the hope to get a Congress ticket, he said the Congress did not seem not willing to give him the ticket. When asked if SAD promised him a ticket, he said that he is joining it without any condition, but is likely to get a ticket.
