DEHRADUN: Shivaji House won the championship trophy of the 17th Annual Inter-House Athletics Meet of The Asian School, Dehradun, that concluded here on Friday.

Shivaji House won the championship trophy of the 17th Annual Inter-House Athletics Meet of The Asian School, Dehradun, that concluded here on Friday. Ashok Kumar, ADGP, Vigilance, was the chief guest of the closing ceremony. Athletes from the four houses took part in different track and field events since October 17 when the meet started. Arjun House came a distant second and Ashoka House third.

Preeti Shaw (Arjun House) was declared the best girl athlete and Krishna Kant (Ranjeet House) was declared the best boy athlete.

Subedar Nandan Singh Rawat of 4 Kumaon Regimental Band guided the march past and played melodies on pipes and drums that enthralled one and all present. The meet began with 4x100 m girls’ relay, which Shivaji House won and 4x100 m boys’’ relay that Shivaji House won. In the gymnastic display, boys showed perfect movements and dare devilry. Everyone performed exercises brilliantly. Dives through the fire ring were spectacular.

Ashok Kumar gave away the trophies to the winners. He congratulated the students for their commendable performances in various sports.

Ajabpur FC, Sundarwala Boys soccer match ends in draw

The matches between Ajabpur Football Club and Sundarwala Boys and Bajrang Football Club and Khalanga Boys ended in a draw in the Lala Nemi Das District Football League played here on Sunday. The first match between Bajrang FC and Khalanga Boys settled in a 1-1 draw. Sandeep and Divyansh scored one goal each for Bajrang FC and Khalanga Boys, respectively.

The match between Ajabpur FC and Sundarwala Boys ended in a 3-3 score. Saurabh, Mayank and Aman scored one goal each for Sundarwala Boys while Akash Thapa scored a brilliant hat-trick for the Ajabpur FC.

St. Thomas’ College shine in basketball

St. Thomas’ College (STC) won its all three matches of the DDSCA Junior Girls’ Basketball Tournament here today. In the first match, the STC defeated Carman School 13-2. In the one-sided encounter, Komal scored 9 points, the highest, for the team. In other matches, St. Jude’s School beat The Heritage School 16-4. STC beat St. Jude’s School 22-4. Carman School beat The Heritage School by 12-4 points. In the last match, STC beat The Heritage School 10-4. Rashmi and Prashansha scored four points each for STC.
