AMRITSAR: Ankush Malhotra of the Mechanical Department of Global Institutes Amritsar (GIA) bagged the top scorer award with five goals in the first Global Football League-2016 held at the football ground of Global Institutes today.

Ankush Malhotra of the Mechanical Department of Global Institutes Amritsar (GIA) bagged the top scorer award with five goals in the first Global Football League-2016 held at the football ground of Global Institutes today.

The tournament plaque was carried up in the sky by multi-coloured balloons during the inauguration by Dr BS Chandi along with Dr Akashdeep Singh, chairman and vice-chairman of GIA, respectively, at a colourful ceremony. As many as eight teams of various departments participated in the contest which included teams of BTech Mechanical (ME), BTech ECE+IT, BTech CSE, BTech Civil and others. In the nail-biting finals, the Civil Department beat the ME by a solitary goal and won the tournament. — TNS
