An undertrial fled by jumping off a police bus near Gillpati village three days ago. The bus was carrying inmates from the local court to the central jail at Gobindpura village. The accused has been arrested again.

In the statement given by SI Amrik Singh to the police, after the hearing of the inmates, the police bus was taking them back to the central jail when inmate Harjinder Singh, son of Kitar Singh, a resident of Chak Fateh Singhwala village, fled by jumping off the bus at Gillpati village.

Sources said after the incident, police officials present in the bus immediately informed the Nehianwali police station and jail authorities about the incident. A search operation was launched suspecting that the inmate was hiding somewhere nearby but was not located. However, he was arrested by the police team later.

Bathinda Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Swapan Sharma said the under trial fled from the police vehicle three days ago and had been arrested again. The accused is undergoing trial in two theft cases.

A case under Section 224 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against Harjinder at Nehianwali police station.
