Three people have died in separate road crashes in Limerick and Dublin over the weekend and an 11-year-old boy who was knocked down last week has died today.

In Limerick, a man in his 30s was killed when the motorcycle he was driving crashed into a wall this afternoon.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene in Ballinaclough, Pallasgreen, Co Limerick.

His body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow.

The road at the scene of the crash was closed pending an examination of the area by gardaí and diversions were put in place.

In Dublin, a teenage boy died after he was struck by a car last night.

The youth was hit by a car on the R139 in Coolock at about 9.35pm.

He was taken to the Children’s University Hospital, Temple Street, where he was later pronounced dead.

The car did not remain at the scene, but was located and seized by gardaí a short time later.

A man in his 20s was later arrested in connection with the incident.

He is being held at Finglas Garda Station.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses or anyone with information on the incident to contact them at Coolock Garda Station on 01 6664200.

Separately in Dublin, a motorcyclist in his early 20s died after a collision in Dublin yesterday evening.

Two motorcyclists were involved in the collision on Hartstown Road in Dublin at 6.50pm.

One of the men was taken to James Connolly Hospital where he died a short time later. 

The second motorcyclist, who was also in his early 20s, was uninjured.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact them at Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01-6667000.

Meanwhile, an 11-year-old boy has died in hospital today following a traffic collision in Navan, Co Meath, on 16 October. 

The boy was crossing the road when he was involved in a collision with a truck.

He was airlifted to Tallaght Hospital and transferred to Temple Street Hospital where he died this afternoon.

The driver of the truck, a man in his mid 30s, was uninjured.

Man in his 30s dies following Co Antrim crash 

In the North, a man died following a single-vehicle crash in Co Antrim overnight.

The man in his 30s was driving a Volkswagen Passat that crashed on the Portglenone Road in Randalstown shortly before 12.15am.  

The PSNI are appealing for anyone who was travelling on the Portglenone Road last night, or early this morning, and who witnessed the collision to contact them.
