Sec 144 in Sivaganga to ensure peaceful memorial event

MADURAI: Invoking Section 144 for the upcoming Maruthu Pandiyar brothers' guru puja in Sivaganga, the district administration has issued a set of guidelines for the public to pay tributes to the leaders. Thousands of people from across Tamil Nadu will congregate at Tirupathur and Kalayarkoil on October 24 and 27 to attend the event.
Sivaganga collector S Malarvizhi, in a statement, said hired vehicles or open vehicles won't be allowed for the event."All the participants should come in own vehicles and two-wheelers. Goods carriers are not allowed. Similarly, procession on foot is not allowed. Political party leaders are allowed only three vehicles on tow and they should visit only during the allocated schedule," the statement said.
Organisers of the memorial events should wind up the events by 4pm on October 27, the collector warned.
