Uttarakhand shuttlers win 2 bronze medals in All India Senior Badminton Tournament

In some heartening news for badminton lovers in the state, shuttlers from Uttarakhand bagged two medals in the ongoing All India Senior Badminton Tournament at Thrissur in Kerala.

DEHRADUN: In some heartening news for badminton lovers in the state, shuttlers from Uttarakhand bagged two medals in the ongoing All India Senior Badminton Tournament at Thrissur in Kerala.
Bodhit Joshi of Almora got a bronze in the singles category while the duo of Kuhoo Garg and V Harika also clinched a bronze in the mixed doubles category.
However, the duo lost to Anjali Rawat and Krishna Wadekar in the semi-final match by 17-21, 21-16, 21-17.

In the men’s singles category, Joshi secured a bronze medal after losing his semi-final match against Shubham Prajapati of Air India by 16-21, 19-21. Joshi is currently ranked no. 10 in the country in the senior players ranking.
Uttarakhand’s Lakshya Sen managed to reach the quarter-final stage in the tournament where he lost to Daniel Farid of Karnataka. Notably, Sen had defeated Farid in the All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament held at Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh last month.
Even the young badminton players from the state gave exceptional performances in the ongoing All India Sub-Junior Badminton Tournament in Delhi. In the Under-13 singles category, Anupama Upadhyay from Almora district in Uttarakhand reached finals after defeating Shivangi Singh of Uttar Pradesh in the semi-finals by 21-14, 21-14. The pair of Anupama Upadhyay and Avantika Pandey reached the semi-finals of the Under-13 girls’ doubles category.
