Sangh Parivar oppose Tipu Jayanthi, calls him 'anti-national'
Mangaluru: With Chief Minister Siddaramaiah firm on celebrating Tipu Jayanthi across state this year in spite of opposition, Bajarang Dal and Sangh Parivar association have urged the state not to celebrate the jayanthi claiming that Tipu was anti-national and they did not want to see Madikeri like incident.
Addressing Bajarang Dal, regional convention, Surendra Kumar Jain, joint general secretary, VHP in a public meeting on Sunday questioned Siddaramaiah why Tipu's Jayanthi was celebrated across Karnataka.
"The day should be celebrated as death anniversary instead birth anniversary. He was anti-national not patriotic," he alleged. Further, he added that Islam forbids birthday celebrations, then why CM is imposing new rule on minority community, he questioned.
Jain said though history say that Tipu was born on some other day, the state government had the fixed the celebration on November 10. "Go back to pages of history and know his exact date of birth," he told the CM.
Another sangh parivar leader warned that entire state will reel under fire if state government goes ahead with Tipu Jayanthi celebrations.
