AMROHA: The Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti has accused the BJP of allegedly betraying the community by ignoring its demand for reservation. Addressing a public meeting here, its national president Yashpal Malik said that the organization would openly campaign against the BJP in the upcoming state assembly elections and ensure that that party loses all the seats dominated by the community in UP, Uttarakhand and Punjab.

Malik was flagging off the first Jat Sankalp rally here. “BJP has abandoned the Jat community. We are highly disappointed as the central government did not give us reservation.
"Reservation for Jats was cancelled on March 17, 2015, by order of the court, as the Centre did not plead the case. After this, a delegation had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 26, 2015. He had assured us that we would be given reservation. But so far, no step has been taken by the central government,” he said.
“The Haryana government also did not fulfil all the promises which were made to us during the agitation there. No compensation was given to the people who were injured during the agitation and the people who were arrested were not freed either. We have been demanding reservation from Punjab government also for a long time. But we were disappointed,” Malik added.
“We have demanded that reservation be given in central jobs to our community and BJP MP Rajkumar Saini be sacked from his post for insulting the Jat community. In addition to this, the Haryana government should fulfil all its promises,” the Jat leader said.
Threatening the BJP, Malik said, “If the central government does not meet our demands by December 2016, we will protest against BJP candidates in the UP, Uttrakhand and Punjab elections.”

The Jat leaders said that after the Amroha rally, other rallies will be held in Meerut and other districts of UP on November 6. The community is dominant in 125 assembly seats in UP, 20 seats in Uttarakhand and most seats in Punjab, they added.
“In the first phase of our campaign against BJP, we will form committees in 125 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. These committees will campaign against the party,” Malik said.
