'Mario Pikachu' Is The Best Kind Of Mario And Pokémon Crossover Anyone Could Wish For

This article is more than 7 years old.

In a new crossover between Mario and Pokémon, The Pokémon Company has announced a new line of merchandise called Mario Pikachu for release at the end of this month.

The merchandise includes Pikachu Mario and Luigi plushies (shown above), Mario and Luigi themed card games, a game card case and a New 3DS LL cover. In addition, there are also playing cards, keyrings, notebooks, folders and t-shirts.

What's more, the artwork being used for the promotion is a Pokémon themed rendition of the original Japanese game boxart for the first Super Mario Bros. on the Famicom.

The only real bad news about this new line of merchandise is that it’s exclusive to Japan. More accurately, it’s exclusive to the Pokémon Center in Kyoto.

Available from October 29th, it will be interesting to see how this Mario Pikachu merchandise does in terms of its sales and popularity.

While this Mario Pikachu line is currently based around real world merchandise, I am curious as to whether this might grow into something video game related sometime in the future.

Considering how limited the availability of this Mario Pikachu merchandise will be, I am hoping we will eventually see a Western release. In the meantime, these items will likely fetch outrageous prices on various online auction sites.

Mario Pikachu merchandise will be released at the Pokémon Center in Kyoto on October 29th.
