According to Shivpal, Ram Gopal is involved with corrupt people and has always misused name of Netaji. Shivpal said that he had raised this issue with the party leadership earlier too.

"They have created a group of goons who trouble people and create every kind of nuisance in the state," said Shivpal referring to Ram Gopal. Shivpal accused Ram Gopal of betraying his party to save his son and daughter-in-law from a CBI case and said that he had tried to tarnish the party's image.

Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav issued the orders for his removal this afternoon in Lucknow. Ram Gopal's expulsions comes on the heels of the chief ministers decision to sack Shivpal Yadav and four other ministers from the state government and the removal of Jaya Prada as the deputy chairperson of the film development board in UP.

The move signals the Mulayam Singh camps determination to act tough against those rebelling against the party heiracrhy in the state. The Mulayam singh group views Prof Ram Gopal Yadav as the man behind the chief ministers current rebellious mood and it is their belief that his sacking will send a strong message to the rank and file. Since the expulsion order carries party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadavs signature the party leadership believes it will nip in the bud those planning to challenge the party leadership.
