Sony has partnered with eSports company ESL to launch a new tournament feature for its PlayStation 4 console. The new Tournaments features will bring together players to participate together in a game of their choice. Sony will be kicking off the new Tournament features with the new NBA 2K17 game.

“We’re kicking off the first Major tournament with NBA 2K17, to celebrate the beginning of the NBA season. The Major Tournament runs from October 27 to November 26, with Major Cup rounds occurring every Saturday. Top 3 winners of the NBA 2K17 Major Tournament will receive a prize pack that includes items such as a DualShock 4 controller and PlayStation gear,” said Jogn Koller, Vice President, PlayStation brand Marketing, SIEA.

As a tournament comes alive, users will be able to find them under the ‘Events’ menu on PS4’s system menu. The PS4 will automatically prompt a player when its time for a match, once they have signed up for a tournament. Sony says that there will be different types of tournaments, but initially they will be supporting 1 vs 1 matches. The feature will be improved upon soon and new game modes will be added over time.
