Arvind Kejriwal's three -day
Punjab visit, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) accused him of harassing Delhi traders and businessmen to collect VAT (value added tax).
Kejriwal is visiting Punjab to release a traders' manifesto on Sunday. "Kejriwal is just a paper tiger who is here to release multiple election manifestos, like the traders' manifesto slated for release tomorrow, to gain cheap publicity," said a joint statement by SAD.
The statement was issued by SAD leaders NK Sharma and
Swarup Singla. SAD said state government had formed two industrial boards and two traders' boards to redress the issues of both communities, besides launching various welfare schemes for them. "However, the schemes launched by the Delhi government failed to yield any result, even as officials and staff of the revenue department had been harassing small traders. The government had set a target of collecting Rs24,000 crore for the year through VAT, but it collected just Rs9,000 crore," they said in the release.
