Five vehicle lifters held, loot worth Rs 14 lakh seized

SHIVAMOGGA: Vinoba Nagar and Bhadravathi police on Saturday nabbed five youths, all 25 years old, for stealing new vehicles.
Shivamogga SP Abinav Khare said Vinoba Nagar police arrested four youths, Imran, Jannu, Nadir and Mubarak, who had allegedly lifted four four-wheelers and two two-wheelers, as they were trying to sell the vehicles by changing number plates and forging documents.
He added that the vehicles were lifted from Vinoba Nagar, Bhadravathi, Hubballi and Tarikere police limits. The SP said they also seized five expensive mobile phones, five gram gold and cash from the suspects.
Separately, Bhadravathi Hosamane police arrested Guruprasad and seized four stolen bikes from him.
The SP said the cost of the seized goods is around Rs 14 lakh. The five accused have been remanded to judicial custody, the SP said.
