GHAZIABAD: Residents of EIL-NTPC Anukampa Apartments in Abhay Khand-4 filed a complaint against a sub-inspector for illegal occupancy of a flat and intimidation of labourers on Saturday. The complaint was filed after the police allegedly refused to lodge an FIR.
The residents alleged that Harsh Bhadouria, a sub-inspector posted at Noida's Sector 39 police station, came to the housing society along with 20 men on Saturday morning and forcefully locked an apartment, claiming it to be his own.
He also intimidated the labourers working insided the flat and evicted them, they said.
The residents visited Indirapuram police station after being denied help from Abhay Khand police chowki, which allegedly refused to register their complaint and tried manipulating them. The residents had a minor spat with the police in the police station as well, after which the cops finally agreed to register a complaint.
"We approached the police chowki in the morning, soon after Bhadoria scared away the labourers working in the flat. The police did not take our complaint seriously and asked us to withdraw it," said Pradeep Dwivedi, RWA president, Anukampa Apartments. According to the residents, Flat No. 13 originally belonged to one Jyoti Kumar Das, an NRI, who recently sold the house to its current owners.
Several flats in the complex had been under dispute back in 1997 after the residents filed a case against the GDA for poor quality of the structure of the flats. The matter concluded in an out-of-court settlement in 2003 but, in the meantime, several local police officials took unauthorised occupancy of the flats available, residents alleged.
They said the cops illegally occupying the flats were eventually driven out after home owners returned to claim possession.
"Harsh Bhadouria had filed a case against Jyoti Kumar Das in Ghaziabad district court for the ownership dispute between them. The court ruled in favour of Das," Dwivedi said.
When contacted, Bhadouria said, "This is my flat and I have filed a case in court for its possession." He told TOI that he doesn't believe that all the court cases associated with the flat have ended, and the magistrate has not issued him a notice to move so far. "All the locks on all the in-built cupboards are mine. A friend of mine still lives in the house. These people have started the construction without my permission," he said.
