100% placement at PEC univ
Chandigarh: PEC students bagged an unprecedented 100% placement with 115 recruiters round the year including a number of start-ups that visited the campus in 2015-16, said PEC director Manoj K Arora at the 46th annual convocation of PEC University of Technology. As many as 377 students received degrees across eight BE programmes, 223 students received degrees across 14 ME programmes and 15 candidates were awarded PhD degrees at the 46th annual convocation ceremony of PEC University of Technology on Saturday.

A number of meritorious students, including 10 gold medalists and 11 silver medalists were also honoured during the ceremony. Students were also given Kalpana Chawla Memorial Gold Medal, Aditya Miglani Memorial Gold Medal, Charu Mehta Memorial Medal, Sarvnipun Chawla Memorial Award, Administrator's Gold Medal, Advisor's Gold Medal and Charu Puri Award for their distinguished performance.
The ceremony was declared open by chairman Board of Governors, Som Mittal. Director of PEC, Professor Manoj K Arora, presented the annual report. He applauded efforts of the institute's training and placement office. He highlighted initiatives and achievements of the university for the past academic year. The director also expressed his gratitude towards alumni for their continuous support.
Addressing the gathering, Mittal congratulated recipients of degrees and awardees and emphasized to create their own individual style that would bring success and happiness. He inspired the new graduates to enter workforce or the next phase of studies with passion and zest to become active and determined participants in society. He further added, "As you succeed in life do also think of the value that you add to society." In his address, the chief guest, Padma Bhushan, Analjit Singh, founder and chairman emeritus, Max Group, cited various examples like successful collaborated effort at reducing the Ozone layer depletion, insinuating the essence of working in harmony and secularism. He said, "Lives are not planned in advance but rather assembled from the pieces of your passions." He emphasized on the trends and opportunities that would be encountered during this journey and would be crucial in taking decisions. He emphasized on the importance of team work. Followed this, degrees were distributed and newly-graduated students took a pledge administered by Dr Arvind Kumar.
