HUBBALLI: Condemning the move to ban triple talaq, thousands of Muslim took out a procession under the banner of Anjuman-e-Islam here on Saturday.
The procession started at Nehru College and passed through Station Road, Lamington Road, KC Circle before concluding at the tahasildar's office. The protesters raised slogans in favour of the Muslim Law Board and triple talaq. At Mini Vidhana Soudha, the protesters submitted a memorandum, in the presence of former minister and president for Anjuman-e-Islam Jabbar Khan Honnalli, Moulana Zahiruddin Khazi, former MLC Ismail Kalebudde, general secretary Abdul Wahab Mulla, Ashraf Ali Bashirahemad, Altaf Hallur and Arif Mujawar, to the tahasildar.
"The move to ban triple talaq is a conspiracy to impose Uniform Civil Code, a move which will create social unrest," the memorandum said.

Niyaz Alam Shaikh, Mohammed Ali, Nayimuddin, Nisar Ahmed Chagan, Ilyas Maniyar, Hasham Hindasgeri, Samad Gulbarga and Rashid Bholabhai were present in the procession.
