BENGALURU: Little did Ganesh H Shankar, a city-based nature photographer, knew that his visit to
Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary in
Rajasthan some months ago, will bring him global laurels.
On spotting a set of rose-ringed parakeets returning to their nesting hole up on a tree, he captured them on his camera. His curiosity grew when he noticed some noise made by parakeets. The birds were busy evicting a Be ngal monitor lizard which occupied their home and the lensman was quick to capture those moments too.
One of those photographs named Eviction Attempt has bagged an award at the recently concluded Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition instituted by the
Natural History Museum (NHM) in L ondon.
"This year, the contest received more than 50,000 entries from 95 countries. It was also an opportunity to meet the important personalities in the field," he added.
Ganesh's image, along with other winners in various categories, are on display at the NHM in London from Friday.
