Chandigarh Sangeet Sammelan Hindustani classical maestros enthral music enthusiasts

Disciple of renowned Hindustani classical vocalist of Prabha Attre, Banawat has been into Indian classical vocal (khyal gayan) and light classical (thumri, dadra,tappa ) since 1999. Born into a musical family in Udaipur, Banawat received her internal training in music from her mother Madana Banawat and her father Ramnarayan Banawat along with tappa gaayki from Pt Bala Saheb Poochwale from Gwalior Gharaana.

Banawat commenced with a beautiful composition sakhi man lage na in Bageshri raga followed by drut composition Ja re ja badra tu ja and tarana. Her Ae more balma in Madhya laya rupak and Jiya lage na in drut laya left the audience spellbound.

Meanwhile, Hegde commenced with a beautiful composition Ae ri ab goond laavo in raag chhayanat and drut compositions Ghar jane de in teen taal, composed by his ustad Pt Vinayak Torvi. Later, he rendered a composition in raag madhu kauns called Mora man lubhayo sanvaria in drut teen taal.

Born in a musical family, Hegde is a young and talented Hindustani classical vocalist who began learning music when he was four-year-oldfrom his mother Geeta Hegde. His father G S Hegde is a tabla player and founder of a music organisation Sapthak. Hegde has also trained under Pt Venkatesh Kumar from Dharwad.
