Nagpur: A sudden cancellation by CM
Devendra Fadnavis, who was supposed to inaugurate the bone marrow registry at
Government Medical College and Hospital (
GMCH) and a
kidney dialysis centre at
Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) on Sunday, has not only led to lakhs in losses for the two institutions but also resulted in a setback for poor patients.
The
dialysis centre, which is supposed to carry out the procedure for 50 BPL patients for free each month, has been ready for four months, awaiting a date from the CM to inaugurate it.
Sources said Fadnavis will now be attending a
BJP event in
Shirdi on Sunday.
For patients requiring bone marrow transplant, the state government is preparing a bone marrow registry of over 1 lakh people. Sources said GMCH had been preparing for the inauguration for two weeks and had spent Rs10-12 lakh on, among other things, erecting shamianas for it. After news of the cancellation came, the shamianas were being dismantled on Saturday.
