IAS academy fire: 5 victims shifted to pvt hospital

Five persons admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) with suffocation after fire broke out in the first floor of the KPR IAS academy were shifted to a private hospital on Saturday.

COIMBATORE: Five persons admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) with suffocation after fire broke out in the first floor of the KPR IAS academy were shifted to a private hospital on Saturday.
The five had lost consciousness after inhaling smoke emanated from the ground floor of the institution at AKS Nagar near Thadagam Road on Friday evening.

The fire broke out at the ground floor of the IAS academy, where KPR textile mills stored chemicals. The fire spread to the first floor of the building, where more than 25 IAS aspirants were attending written test.
Six persons, including the two women staff members, were caught in the room and they were found in an unconscious state. The six were identified as Sakthivel, 23 of Viluppuram; A Giris Raja, 23, of Pachapalayam near Perur; Aranganathan, 25, of Puducherry; Vijayalakshmi, 24, of Madurai; Gayathri, 26, of Rajapalayam in Virudhunagar district; and Muthumanikandaraj, 26, of Tenkasi in Tirunelveli district
The fire and rescue service personnel reached the spot and rescued the six and took them to the CMCH. Sakthivel died in the hospital without responding to the treatment on Friday evening itself. "The condition of four of them is stable. Gayathri was struggling to breathe. She was on ventilator till Saturday 11am but she is out of danger," said Dr A Soundaravel, resident medical officer, CMCH. TNN
