The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today alleged that the Congress and AAP were playing a game of oneupmanship while making unrealistic promises.

In a statement issued here today, SAD manifesto committee incharge and former Union minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said both parties could afford to make wild poll promises as their chances of coming to power were remote.

He said the party sure of victory had to tread cautiously as it would have to implement the promises or face the music.

He added that Aam Aadmi Party convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should first announce agriculture loan waiver in Delhi, having a thin presence of farmers, before venturing to make such a promise for Punjab, a predominantly agrarian state.

The Akali leader said Punjab Congress Committee chief Capt Amarinder Singh should ask the chief ministers of Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh — where the Congress is in power — why they had failed to waive farmers’ loans in their states.
