Mukesh Agnihotri, Industries, Labour and Employment Minister, has said the private sector had immense scope for employment and the state government was focussing on the development of new industrial areas.

He stated this while addressing a gathering at Nalagarh last evening. He said two new industrial areas — Pandoga in Una and Kandrori in Kangra district — were being developed at a cost of Rs 262 crore.

An area has also been identified at Dhabota in Nalagarh for this purpose and efforts are afoot to develop another industrial area there.

He said a sum of Rs 184 crore in this financial year was being spent on promoting industrial activities.

While enlisting his priorities for the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial area which houses about 90 per cent of the state’s industries, he said the BBN Development Authority had been made functional. A permanent Chief Executive Officer has been placed and a budgetary outlay of Rs 100 crore provided.

He said a helipad would also be constructed in the BBN area.
