The visiting Chinese delegation that attended ruling Awami League’s council Saturday morning met Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office, in the afternoon.
The vice-minister of International Department of Communist Party of China, Zheng Xiaosong, led the delegates in the meeting, where BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, its standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Mahbubur Rahman, BNP chief’s advisers, Reaz Rahman and Sabihuddin Ahmed, were also present.
The hour-long meeting started around 5:30pm.
Neither party formally announced the contents of the meeting.
Mahbubur Rahman told New Age that the meeting was simply a ‘courtesy call’.
