PU to hold international seminar on Prakash Utsav
CHANDIGARH: In order to mark the respect to the 350th Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh will organize a two-day International Seminar and Kavi Darbar. The seminar’s title stands to be ‘Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Contribution to Indian Society and Culture: Multiple Perspectives’ and is scheduled on October 27 and 28 from 9am onwards at evening studies auditorium Arts Block I.
Sardar Surjit Singh Ji Rakhra, minister of water supply, sanitation, higher education and languages, Punjab Government will be the chief guest in the Inaugural session to be held on October 27.
Professor Jaspal Kaur Kaang, Seminar Director and eminent scholar of Sikh and Punjabi Studies shared that Professor Arun Kumar Grover, vice-chancellor Panjab University, Chandigarh will deliver the inaugural address and Professor Surjit Patar, Padam Shri will deliver the keynote address.
Professor Kapil Kapoor, former pro-vice chancellor, JNU, New Delhi and Professor Satish K Verma, Former Dean Languages, Punjabi University Patiala will be the other luminaries who would address the audience in the inaugural session. Professor Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor Punjabi University, Patiala will deliver the presidential address and the vote of thanks will be delivered by Col (Retd) G S Chadha, registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh. A kavi darbar will also be held on October 27 at 2.30 pm in the auditorium. Prominent poets Surjit Patar, Gurbhajan Gill, Amarjit Amar, Nashir Naqvi, Kulwant Chawla etc will recite their poems.
