LDF sweeps local body bypolls

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: LDF has swept the bypolls held in 14 local body wards, winning 10 seats including three earlier won by UDF. UDF won three seats while BJP won one ward. LDF candidates registered victories at Kizhuvilam, Maruthamkodu, Seemanthapuram, Padinjatela in Thiruvananthapuram.
In Kollam, LDF won the ward at Kayyalakkal with its candidate M Noushad marking a majority of 465 votes.Bincy Roy of LDF won at Ambatham mail ward in Idukky. In Thrissur, LDF won Kaippamangalam, Njamanagodu and Pallur East. M Sateesh Kumar of LDF won at Thirunelli, Wayanad with a majority of 2924 votes.
UDF won at Kalvarimount in Idukki district, Areekadu in Kozhikode and Ayitti in Kasargode. BJP won the lone seat at Mepparambu in Palakkad.
LDF won UDF sitting seats at Seemanathapuram and Padinjatela in Thiruvananthapuram and Ambatham mail in Idukki. UDF defeated LDF in its sitting seat at Areekadu.
