Young and promising talent Chahak Patel overcame a tough fightback from Rishi Baid to register a 2-1 win in the junior snooker of Gujarat State Ranking Billiards and Snooker Championship currently on in Ahmedabad.

AHMEDABAD: Young and promising talent Chahak Patel overcame a tough fightback from Rishi Baid to register a 2-1 win in the junior snooker of Gujarat State Ranking Billiards and Snooker Championship currently on in Ahmedabad.
Being played at Ellisbridge Gymkhana, Chahak started off well and took the lead by winning the first frame. However, what he did not expect was that the going will be made tough by a resilient Rishi.
Rishi worked hard to get his game going and fought back to win the second frame and bring the score to level.
Now, the pressure was on both the cueists as the final frame will decide the winner. Chahak, however, could hold on to his nerves and ultimately the match by bagging the third frame.
There were other close encounters too in the tournament. Parth Shah had to sweat hard to get past Darshan Makwana while Vishal Tanwani overcame a tough Kunj Patel 2-1. Other matches that went the distance were played between Arun Vaghela and Parth Patel where the two fought nail and tooth to emerge ahead. Same was the case for Sarang Trivedi who had to dig in deep in order to triumph Dhruv Patel.
Meanwhile, Nihar Raut and Fazal Patel registered comfortable 2-0 wins over Mayur Garg and Neet Shah respectively. It was easy going for Jatin Panchsara and Aditya Sagar too who scripted a similar wins in beating Kaushal Thakkar and Nishil Pawar respectively.
Harshil Santoki, Jassa Singh Sandhu, Het Panchal and Siddharth Panchal too registered a comfortable 2-0 victories.
