192 newly recruited soldiers take oath of protecting country

Total 192 recruits of Group 1/16 were attested at the Talekar Drill Square of Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) here on Saturday.

BELAGAVI: Total 192 recruits of Group 1/16 were attested at the Talekar Drill Square of Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) here on Saturday.
On successful completion of their training and would soon be reporting for duty at different parts of the country in the service of the nation.Parade was commanded by Sepoy Shaik Jani Basha while the parade adjutant was Major Manoj Parmar.

Major General PN Rao, YSM, SM, Commander, Junior Leaders Wing, the Infantry School, Belagavi who reviewed the parade addressed newly attested soldiers. He reminded them rich heritage and glory of MLIRC, one of the oldest infantry regiments of the country. He also stressed upon the importance of discipline and physical fitness in a soldier’s life.
Reviewing officer awarded the recruits for excelling in different spheres of training at the end of the parade. Subedar Honorary Captain Keshav Rao Talekar Medal and Trophy for Best in Drill were awarded to Sepoy Jani Basha. Major SS Brar Medal and Trophy for Best in Physical Training were awarded to Sepoy Akash Kirdat.
For being the Best in Field Craft, the Colonel NJ Nair Medal and Trophy were awarded to Sepoy Vishal Pawar. Sucha Singh Memorial Cup and Medal for Best in outdoor training activities were awarded to Sepoy Dayanand Jamadade. Sepoy Shaik Jhon Basha were awarded Namdev Jadhav Medal and Trophy for Best in Firing.
A host of army officers, Junior commissioned officers, other rank and families of the newly attested soldiers were present to witness the parade.The parents of the young soldiers proudly displayed ‘Gaurav Padak’ which they wore at the ceremony. The ceremony included the wreath laying at the War Memorial to honour the martyrs and culminated with tea for the newly attested soldiers and the audience.
