Amnesty scheme for people whose power supply has been permanently disconnected

PUNE: The Maharashtra state electricity distribution company ltd (MSEDCL) has announced a special amnesty scheme for people whose power supply has been permanently disconnected because of non payment of electricity. Regional director of MSEDCL Sanjay Taksande has instructed the company's staff to effectively implement the scheme and give power connections to those who will fulfill the terms and conditions.

Taksande was speaking in the review meeting held at the administrative office of MSEDCL in Rasta Peth. He said that the scheme will begin from November 1 and will remain operational for six months. He has said that all the power consumers whose power connections were disconnected permanently due to arrears are eligible for the scheme. If the consumers clear their arrears upto November 30 then they will get concession of five percent in the original arrears and 100 percent waiver of interest and late fee.
If the original arrears are cleared in first three months then there will be 100 percent waiver of interest and late fee. If the original arrears are cleared alongwith 25% interest from next three months to six months then 75% of interest and 100% late fee amount will be waived.
He also said that there is a facility to pay the original arrears online on MSEDCL website and which also has information about the arrears of consumers concerned. The arrear amount will be accepted through cheque payment also. The condition of paying of two percent of the original arrears first to get the benefit of the scheme has been cancelled.
