ZTE Project CSX winner phone will feature eye-tracking and self-adhesive back

ZTE’s community chose between five devices, out of which the eye-tracking, self-adhesive phone came out as the winner

It was back in August that Chinese phone maker ZTE had announced plans to make a new phone that would involve fans to be part of the design process. The company had asked users to submit their inputs for the new device, which the company plans to build by 2017. ZTE recently announced the winner of the ‘Project CSX’.

“It has been an incredible journey reading through 400 submissions for Project CSX, countless comments from the community giving feedback on these ideas, and a finale in which consumers from around the world – 176 countries to be exact – voted on the device that ZTE will build in 2017. ZTE has learned a lot throughout this entire process and we hope that all of you have too. It’s truly a global effort and we enjoyed receiving feedback and votes from all of you,” said a ZTE employee Jeff Yee, on a community page of the company’s US website.

The winner out of all the submissions that ZTE is received was ‘Team One Technology’, which proposed the concept for a phone that incorporates eye-tracking technology – allowing for a hands free experience. After a series of voting, ZTE’s community chose between five devices, out of which the eye-tracking, self-adhesive phone came out as the winner.

Yee explains how the winning design allows for users to have a hands-free experience with the device thanks to the eye-tracking software. It also features a self-adhesive back that can allow the phone to be stuck on to a wall or a flat surface.
