Pragati Mehra files complaint with CINTAA after her forced exit from 'Akbar Birbal'
A few days ago, BT reported that Delnaaz Irani was returning to her show, 'Akbar Birbal'. Pragati Mehra, who was playing the role of Jodha for the past few months, was out of the show. While all seemed hunky dory when we spoke to Delnaaz, apparently there is trouble in store for the makers of the show. Pragati, who did not receive any official intimation about her exit, is upset with the production house.
The actress has approached CINTAA, asking them to look into the matter. Said Pragati, “When I was signed for the show, I was clearly told that Delnaaz was a part of the first season, which had gone off air and she wouldn’t be returning to the show. I was signed up for the next season. I was not told that it would be a stop-gap arrangement or a cameo. Had I been informed about it earlier, I would have understood. I have spent 15 years in the industry and I expect some kind of formal letter or courtesy from the production house. I did not accept any other offers during this period and also preponed my US trip. I was hospitalised a few days back and that’s when I got to know that I am out of the show. I don’t have any grouse against anyone. I have shared my grievances with CINTAA and will stand by their decision.”
We contacted producer Nikhil Sinha, who surprisingly said there was no issue at all. He said, “Pragati was not happy with her character within a week of accepting it. She told us that she wanted to quit the show. And then Delnaaz informed us that she wanted to come back. Pragati was informed that Delnaaz was joining from October 15. Pragati has been a good friend and we have nothing against her.”
Meanwhile, Amit Behl, Chairman, Dispute Committee of CNITAA, said, “We have received Pragati’s detailed mail on this and are awaiting a reply from the production house. We will take a decision after that.”
