A 21-year-old IAS aspirant, Shailee Dhamdhere, lost a leg after she fell off a running long-distance train at Kalyan railway station.

KALYAN: A 21-year-old IAS aspirant, Shailee Dhamdhere, lost a leg after she fell off a running long-distance train at Kalyan railway station.
Dhamdhere, a Pune resident, had come to the city on Sunday to take an entrance exam for the State Institute for Administrative Careers at CST. After the exam, she stayed with her aunt in the city and on Thursday, she and her cousin decided to take a train from Kalyan to Pune.
Though she managed to enter the Indrayani Express, her cousin missed it.
When the train started, Dhamdhere lost her balance and fell on the platform. Sources said Dhamdhere's cousin and other commuters rushed her to the civic-run Rukminibai Hospital, from where she was shifted to Jupiter Hospital in Thane.
Datta Pable, senior police inspector of Kalyan GRP, said, “A primary investigation shows that the victim lost her balance and fell off the train.A portion of one of her legs has got cut.“
