Oman education: Bangladesh School Muscat names student leaders for new academic year

Muscat: Bangladesh School Muscat (BSM) has appointed 28 student leaders to lead the school for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Apart from the Head Boy, Head Girl, Sports Captain and ECA Captain, more than 24 students have been appointed as House Captain, Vice Captain and Prefects. An elegant Investiture Ceremony was held on this occasion. Leaders were given badges and sashes to recognise their leadership.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the school, Iftakher ul Hassan Chowdhry graced the ceremony as the chief guest. He congratulated the newly appointed leaders and inspired them to do the best.
He also handed over the national flag of Bangladesh to the Head Boy and school flag to the Head Girl.
“All the students possess uniqueness in the different arenas, they all have same potential, equal enthusiasm; they all are leaders of the future. But you people, appointment holders, are simply the best amongst a flock of leaders of same talent. I wish, you will not lead the school alone, but also lead the country, the world,” said the Chairman in his inspiring speech.
Arfadul Alam Kayes, Grade XII Commerce, has been appointed as the Head Boy while, Syeda Sharmin Akter, student of Grade XII Science, has been appointed as Head Girl. Suhail Noor and Amna Tariq have been appointed as Sports Captain and Extra Curricular Activities Captain, respectively.
Md. Helal, Arif, Shah Md. Talha Tanvir and Rukon Uddin were appointed as House Captains of Jahangir House, Jashimuddin House, Nazrul House and Zainul House, respectively. Makame Mahmood, Shifat Hossain, Nusrat Jahan and Neamul Islam were nominated as Vice Captains of their respective houses.
In addition to eight House Captains and Vice Captains, 16 more students from different houses were appointed as Prefects. All the appointment holders belong to Grade 10, 11 and 12.
The appointment holders took an oath together to fly BSM’s flag high in the sky and to prove the school as one of the best institutes in the Sultanate. Principal Lt Col Mahmud Ul Alam (Retd) PhD, along with the Director of Education Affairs Major Nasir Uddin Ahmed (Retd) gave away Badges and Sashes to the prefects.
The principal congratulated the appointed leaders and inspired them to uphold their leadership in the best possible way. He also advised them to make regular studying a habit and to find out what personal qualities they have to possess in order to successfully carry out the assignments entrusted to them.
Arfadul Alam Kayes, the delighted Head Boy thanked all his teachers and the school authorities on this very special accomplishment. He expressed his commitment to leading the school most successfully.
“This is a very special and prestigious achievement in my life. I am so much delighted that I cannot express. I solemnly express my gratefulness and thank all my teachers for making me such a leader. I thank my friends also for voting me. I will do my duty without any compromise,” said the thrilled Head Boy while commenting on his achievement.
Parents of those appointed, other invited guests, teachers and staff of the school were also present in the grand ceremony held at the multipurpose hall of the school.
