KOCHI: The railways has ordered an inquiry into the incident in which the
Ernakulam Junction-Kottayam passenger
train halted at a deserted area near
Tripunithura after the engine developed a technical snag on Thursday night.
The inquiry was ordered after passengers alleged that railway authorities failed to carry out remedial measures. Following the incident, commuters in the passenger train, that left
Ernakulam Junction at 8.35 pm, had complained that they were not informed about the delay and also not made any alternative transport arrangement to reach the nearest station.
The train finally resumed journey at 11.40pm after another engine was brought from Ernakulam.
As it was dark and raining, passengers, including women, were literally stuck inside compartments.
