RANCHI: A group of Congress leaders, who rebelled against newly appointed state unit chief Sukhdeo Bhagat, decided to take forward the protests to every district after they failed to get any satisfactory response during the maiden party meeting on Friday.
"One meeting of disappointed leaders was held in Jamshedpur on Thursday. Now, we will hold the meeting in every district. We want all disappointed leaders to come together," said Manoj Yadav, MLA from Barhi.
Another rebel, Ajay Rai said over 80% people are disappointed with Sukhdeo Bhagat.
"In every district, party leaders feel demoralized because they worked hard and posts were only given to sycophants," he said.
Across districts, signatures of disappointed Congress workers are likely to be taken, following which the signatures will be forwarded to party chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
"Bhagat does not give the right picture to the party chief. They should know the reality," he said.
Few other protestors accused Bhagat of being a loose charactered person. "People occupying important posts should stand high on moral grounds and have unassailable character. We can't tolerate inefficiency," he said.
"Unless Bhagat is removed, Congress cannot become strong," said a leader, who with around 50 protestors, protested at the party's meet on Friday.
Meanwhile, Sukhdeo Bhagat said differences should be discussed and sorted out within the party. "Some leaders have displayed the height of indiscipline," he said.
In the maiden meeting, amid protesting voices, Congress leaders passed five proposals - chief among them being opposition to any change in CNT/SPT acts and opposition to displacement among others. The party also decided to make the October 24 bandh against Barkagaon firing successful.
