BHOPAL: Vyapam has filed a complaint against a fake Facebook community page for misleading job aspirants by providing information regarding exams on behalf of the board.
Cyber cell has registered a FIR and initiated investigations against the people running unauthorised Facebook page. When contacted, Vypam director, Bhaskar Lakshakar, told TOI that no one is authorised to run such a Facebook page.
"It is a crime to use the logo of the board. I have contacted cyber cell to file FIR," said Lakshakar. Sources said the issue has left the authorities shocked. "Our concern is that several students have started interacting on this page. People who have created the page are also providing answers to the queries about exams and centres, which is again a crime," he added.
Issue came to light after students contacted Vyapam on the basis of the information provided on the Facebook page. "I have seen that page and also gone through various conversations. Students are being misguided, which can harm their future also," said Lakshakar. To restrict such fake communities on social media, Vyapam will sensitise students. Vyapam has also asked students to only use the official website of the board or contact their office.
Since December 2015 Vyapam has stopped offline exam and started conducting only online exams. "We have made our examination system fool-proof. We have reported the matter so that such fake Facebook pages are not run by anyone," he said. Students also felt that such Facebook pages must be monitored closely. "I had interacted on that page. They had even provided me the cut-offs of an exam and answer keys. I was shocked when I contacted Vyapam and found that the page was unauthorised," said Anand Sharma, a student.
