Telangana women staff to get 90-day childcare leave

The Telangana cabinet on Friday announced 90 days of childcare leave for women employees.The employees can avail the leave till their children attain 18 years of age and in six tranches of up to 15 days each.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana cabinet on Friday announced 90 days of childcare leave for women employees. The employees can avail the leave till their children attain 18 years of age and in six tranches of up to 15 days each.
The state cabinet chaired by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also decided to upgrade language teachers and physical education teachers to school assistant grade in view of their long-pending demand.
About 2,480 language teachers and another 1,050 physical education teachers will benefit from this decision.
Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari along with other ministers Nayani Narsimha Reddy, T Harish Rao, K Laxma Reddy and T Srinivas Yadav, said the cabinet passed a resolution requesting the governor to hand over buildings which are now under the custody of Andhra Pradesh government in Hyderabad including secretariat buildings, Assembly, council and other heads of the department's offices since AP government has been functioning from Amaravati. Srihari did not elaborate the purpose for which the government was seeking the buildings.
He said the cabinet decided to change the names of some newly created districts by suffixing the name of district headquarters in view of requests from districts officials concerned. Henceforth, Kumram Bheem district will be called as Kumaram Bheem-Asifabad district. Similarly, other districts renamed were Yadadri as Yadadri-Bhongiri, Bhandradri district as Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Jogulamba as Jogulamba-Gadwal, Rajanna district as Rajanna-Sircilla and Jayashankar as Jayashankar-Bhoopalapally district. With regard to Brijesh Kumar tribunal's verdict over sharing of Krishna waters, Srihari said a cabinet sub-committee was constituted under irrigation minister T Harish Rao, with ministers Tummala Nageshwara Rao, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, G Jagadishwar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao as members. Srihari and state planning board vice-chairman Niranjan Reddy will be special invitees. The cabinet also decided to constitute a sub-committee on issues related to universities such as uniform admissions, finances and recruitment. This will be headed by Srihari along with five other ministers as members. Another cabinet sub-committee on fisheries development was also announced.
The cabinet also decided to clear fee reimbursement and Arogyasri arrears and release the third instalment of farm loan waiver scheme immediately. Srihari said that the chief minister directed the chief secretary and principal secretary (finance) to release arrears in a month.
