Nagged to sell his favourite buffalo, man shoots at wife

SHAHJAHANPUR: A resident of Powayan here allegedly shot at his wife because she was forcing him to sell his prized buffalo. The woman was rushed to the district hospital in Shahjahanpur and later referred to a higher centre in Lucknow with serious gunshot wounds.
A few months ago, Mahendra Kumar and his wife Maya Devi purchased a buffalo. The idea was to sell the milk for extra income.However, it turned difficult for the woman to take care of the animal. On Friday, after Kumar returned from work, the argument over the selling the buffalo, which was going on for over a week, started off again.
Kumar shot at his wife at point blank range. SP (rural) RK Bhartiya told TOI, “We are trying to find the whereabouts of the man, who has been absconding after shooting his wife.“
