MARGAO: Lineman Francis Abranches recently suffered an electric shock while on duty at Navelim, South Goa, and is now undergoing treatment at Goa medical college and hospital, Bambolim.
Sources in the electricity department confirmed to TOI that the incident occurred due to a communication failure between the power department officials and Abranches.
Engaged in the proposed road-widening work of the NH 17 stretch in Navelim, Abranches came in contact with a high voltage wire before the power was shutdown.

Residents of Navelim and other villages in Salcete are upset due to frequent power cuts in the area. When contacted, executive engineer A Devadasan claimed that the reason for the daily power outages is, “the faulty incoming power supply from Karnataka, that has resulted in power failure at the Xeldem power sub-station.”
