The Oct. 19 news article "Social Security checks to get a $4 nudge in 2017" suggested that most Social Security recipients are likely to receive the equivalent of a daily meatball sub as a result of the 0.3 percent increase in the consumer price index. However, the article failed to mention that 30 percent of Social Security recipients, including those who are considered "higher-income," will be subsidizing these meatball subs through substantial increases in their Medicare premiums.
