As per the complaint, Tirthi created her profile on “www.jeevansathi.com” in October 2015 as she was looking for a groom. She received a request from one Lohit Rajpur, who claimed to be into the business of mines trading at Gandhidham in Gujarat. He allegedly promised to get engaged to the complainant in November 2015 and to marry her in 2016. The complainant deposited Rs 4.33 lakh in different instalments in a bank account number given to her by Lohit.

However, he did not marry her and also did not return her money. So she filed a police complaint on January 6 against him under sections 406, 420, 34 of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act. During the probe, a cyber crime cell team led by assistant police inspector Sagar Panmand identified the suspects and nabbed them in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
