SER orders inquiry into alleged unscheduled stoppage of New Delhi-Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express at Muri station

The inquiry was ordered following reports in an English daily that the train made an unscheduled stop in order to help the family member of a senior railway official to board a train.

The South Eastern Railway (SER) has ordered an inquiry by the Divisional Railway Manager (Ranchi) in connection with alleged unscheduled stoppage of New Delhi-Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express at Muri railway station on Thursday morning. The inquiry was ordered following reports in an English daily that the train made an unscheduled stop in order to help the family member of a senior railway official to board a train.

However, railway officials remained tight-lipped about the incident. DRM (Adra), who is also incharge of Ranchi Division, Anshul Gupta, said in a message that the inquiry was on and it would require a couple of days to share the action taken. Additional DRM (Ranchi), Vijay Kumar, said: “I am not in Ranchi today. However, the reported incident is being inquired into. I am not in a position to talk about any facts related to the alleged incident.”

Kolkata-based Chief Public Relations Officer (SER), Sanjay Ghosh, said: “We came to know about the said incident through a report in the daily. The headquarters have taken note of it and asked for a detailed report at the Divisional level, as it is matter that comes under their jurisdiction. We would be in a position to share information after we get the report.”

New Delhi-Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express was on its way to Bhubaneshwar when it stopped at Muri, around 60 km from Ranchi railway station, Thursday morning even though the train was scheduled to stop next at Tatanagar (Jamshedpur).
