Moro Branislav insisted he wasn’t just playing to the crowd when he gives surprisingly long court time for Filipino players.

The Serbian coach, tapped to whip up a competitive squad in less than a month, said he’s giving them much-needed exposure in the ongoing FIVB Women’s Club World Championship.

No wonder there are at least two Filipino players—at some point even four—on the court during PSL-F2 Logistics Manila matches, a welcome surprise for fans at Mall of Asia Arena.

“Believe me, it’s very important promotion for Philippine players,” said Branislav after PSL-F2 put up a strong third-set stand before yielding to Pomi Casalmaggiore, 25-19, 25-15, 25-21, Thursday night.

Setter Kim Fajardo and middle blocker Jaja Santiago regularly start for the team with wing spikers Rachel Anne Daquis and Jovelyn Gonzaga subbing for Stephanie Niemer and Lindsay Stalzer.  Mika Reyes subs for Santiago.

“Normally you put all foreign players, but I saw every time Filipino players are on court, the team has good results,” said Branislav.

Branislav expressed delight over the attention the FIVB Clubs are getting but is hoping more people see the game live.

Branislav also said the Manila squad needs to address their service game and errors.

“I always repeat to my players, [these are] high-level teams,” he said. “Every time we make mistake, not strong service, we lose 2 to 3 points.”

Meanwhile, Vakifbank Istanbul barged into the semifinal phase after a 25-19, 25-23, 25-18 triumph over Bangkok Glass last night.
