Amitabh Bachchan annoyed with Samsung Galaxy Note 7, finally replaces it with Samsung Galaxy S7

When the Shehanshah of Bollywood says something, you better not ignore it! Amitabh Bachchan, is one of those celebs who has been loyal to Samsung and uses Samsung gadgets. However, he got caught up right in the middle of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 debate when he too suffered at the hands of the device and was thoroughly frustrated trying to understand whether his device was not functional or was it a series issue. Basically, the entire problem began when Amitabh Bachchan began to use his latest Samsung flagship, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 (that the phone was not launched in India but he still had access to it – either through the brand directly or through international markets, is a point we shall conveniently ignore here) and discovered that it would just not charge beyond 60 percent!

For those with lesser interesting lives than the Shehanshah who have avidly tracked the journey of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 know exactly why the issue cropped up. Well, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has been one of the biggest smartphone disasters in the history of smartphones and Samsung has officially called off the entire line. Problems cropped up in Samsung Galaxy Note 7 within weeks of launch when users began to complain of their smartphones blasting. While initially, it looked like a small issue, the number of complaints soon escalated and Samsung knew it had disaster on its hands. Samsung immediately responded to complaints and began to recall devices. However, no official statement was released and thousands of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 owners still remained confused as to further steps to be taken. Should they get their phones repaired or just take a replacement? How soon would their devices be replaced? Nothing was clear.

And even as Samsung was trying to come to terms with the entire confusion, they realised not too many people were keen on returning their devices or even believed the magnitude of the problem. Thus, as a quick-fix to solve the issue, Samsung simply decided to issue a software update through which they blocked the charging of the phones. So now, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices would not reach 100 percent charge and this immediately reduced the chances of the battery bursting due to overheating. However, for poor Amitabh Bachchan who had no idea about this trick Samsung had up it’s sleeve, it felt like there was something seriously wrong with his device. His Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phone would just not charge beyond 60 percent. In his confusion, he took to twitter to bring the issue to the notice of Samsung and asked them to provide a quick solution. Twitterati immediately picked up on his tweet and joined in, asking Samsung to sort out their devices.

Finally, after all the confusion, looks like Samsung has managed to solve the problem of Sr. Bachchan. As Samsung recalled all units globally and shelved the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 line completely, the solution would be the same for Amitabh Bachchan. Samsung, in India, never launched the device but it did up for pre-order. For those who pre-ordered the smartphone, Samsung is either offering a full refund or simply replacing the device with another flagship smartphone of their choice – Samsung Galaxy S7 or Samsung Galaxy Edge. Looks like in case of Amitabh Bachchan, Big has not given up on the brand and asked for a replacement device instead of a refund. Just like expressing his angst at the battery charging issue of Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to share news of his phone being exchanged by Samsung and the data transfer happening while he is on the sets, shooting for Sarkar 3. In the picture above, we see him transferring all his data from one device to the other. Finally, Big B’s smartphone woes have ended!

While Big B’s woes might have ended, the situation still looks grim for Samsung. While the smartphone maker is planning on sticking to budget and cheap 4G device launches in India for the remainder of the year, globally, it’s plans are unclear. In many countries, Samsung is offering additional credit notes and vouchers to customers who are exchanging their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 for another Samsung device and showing their trust in the brand instead of asking for replacement. Reports also filtered in that Samsung will stick to only one flagship smartphone launch from 2017, going back in time to those days where each manufacturer had just one flagship launch a year instead of 2 launches each half of the year. The problem with Samsung Galaxy Note 7 arose because the phone is a slim device and the battery was forced to take too much load. Also, it being a unibody design, it made things more difficult and complicated for Samsung when they had to replace the batteries, leading to more issues instead of solving the problem.

Well, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has surely been a wakeup call for smartphones and as for Amitabh Bachchan, we hope he is happy with his new Samsung Galaxy S7 device!
