Brazil squad virtually unchanged for Argentina and Peru qualifiers

Brazil coach Tite has made only one change to his squad for the November World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Peru.

The Selecao, top of the table in CONMEBOL qualifying, host struggling Argentina in Belo Horizonte on Nov. 10 -- a match Tite has said embodies their South American rivalry.

Tite added Sao Paulo's Rodrigo Caio to cover the potential absence of Real Madrid's Casemiro, who broke a bone in his leg last month and is only just returning to training. Chelsea midfielder Oscar was left out.

"There are big questions with respect to the 24 athletes. Why? I say that because of Casemiro," physio Fabio Mahseredjian said.

"He was injured on Sept. 18, a very strong blow to his left leg, and he fractured his fibula. I was in Madrid and spoke with the club's medical team.

"They have him working in the pool, doing weight training and physical therapy. He is due for another examination.

"We have opted to recall him and observe his recovery. If all goes well he will join the team."

Tite said his team would remain the same for the Nov. 15 match against Peru.

Brazil have won all four of their World Cup qualifiers since he took over from Dunga following a disappointing run of results for the five-time world champions, rocketing from sixth to top.

The seven CONMEBOL teams are chasing four-and-a-half slots, with the side finishing fifth meeting the winners of Oceania in a playoff.
