A murder inquiry has started after a man was found dead at a flat in a North Yorkshire seaside town.

Police were called to the home on Princess Street in the Old Town area of Scarborough at 16:40 BST on Thursday.

Officers said they were trying to establish the full circumstances of the 50-year-old man's death, with it being treated as suspicious.

A local man, 54, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
