Marking the second instance of ceasefire violation in the day, the Pakistani troops today open fired along the border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. Pakistani rangers fired along the Line of Control (LoC), using small arms and automatic weapons, and the attack was responded by the Indian military forces.
There had been more than 30 instances of ceasefire violation by Pakistan, since the Indian Army carried out surgical strikes along the Line of Control in the neighbouring Country, destroying several terror launch pads and killing at least 38 terrorists. In its last violation, the Pakistani rangers open fired at India along the International Border (IB) at Bobiya post in Hiranagar sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Though the Border Security Forces (BSF) retaliated the firing, one BSJ jawan was injured during the cross-border firing.
Earlier, Pakistan protested against India, citing ‘unprovoked ceasefire violations’ by India and claiming the death of a civilian during Indian army’s firing across the border. The Pakistan Foreign Office even claimed that twelve others including women and children were injured during the cross-border firing and the FO summoned the Deputy High Commissioner of India for talks on ceasefire.
In several incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistan, after the surgical strikes, on October 16, the Pakistani troops violated ceasefire twice by firing along the LoC at the Naushera and Rajouri sectors, claiming the life of one Indian Army jawan.
Pakistan had violated ceasefire thrice on October 5 as troops open fired at several Indian Army posts and civilian areas in three sectors of Poonch and Rajouri district.
On October 4 Pakistani troops targeted 10 forward areas in four places at Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch. There had been four ceasefire violations on October 3 at Saujian, Shahpur-Kerni, Mandi and KG sectors in Poonch district.
