Why Eden Park inspires a cold sweat in visiting rugby teams

The Wallabies are at long odds to end their Eden Park hoodoo against the All Blacks and given Australia's recent performances at the Auckland venue, it's easy to see why.

But it's not just the Aussies who struggle at the home of New Zealand rugby, with world rugby's top Test nations also unable to register a win for more than 20 years.

Read on as Opta Sports brings you 10 stats that reflect the harrowing graveyard that Eden Park has become for visiting sides.

- Australia have not beaten the All Blacks at Eden Park since 1986 (22-9), losing their last 16 clashes at the iconic venue.

- The All Blacks are unbeaten against all sides at Eden Park since 1994, winning their last 35 at the stadium in Auckland.

- Since that defeat to France in 1994 the All Blacks have scored 1,222 points and 133 tries in 36 games at Eden Park, 33.9 and 3.7 per game respectively.

- Keven Mealamu played in 23 of those 36 games at Eden Park since their last defeat, more than any other player; Ma'a Nonu scored more tries (8 in 16 appearances) than any other player in this time.

- Thirteen of those 36 games at Eden Park have been against Australia, no other side has visited more than five times.

- Other than Australia, 10 other sides (inc. the Lions) have visited Eden Park to play New Zealand without winning since France's victory back in 1994.

- After France's win in 1994, South Africa then drew with NZ in the next game at the venue, since then only five times in 35 games has the visiting side finished within single figures of the All Blacks; Australia accounting for three of those games.

- Overall Australia have a 17.2% win rate at Eden Park, however that drops to 14.8% if just including games against the All Blacks.

- Australia have failed to score more than 20 points in any of their last eight visits to Eden Park to play New Zealand, failing to cross the tryline in three of those eight games.

- New Zealand have scored 2,161 points at Eden Park since their first game there in 1921, more than twice as many as they've scored at any other venue.
